Andrew Howard

Bio

Andrew joined Canada ICI in 2022 during the firm’s expansion into the BC market with the new Vancouver office. Andrew has been involved in residential and commercial lending across the province for close to fifteen years.

Andrew comes to Canada ICI from his most recent position at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). He spent seven years partnering with lenders on CMHC’s mortgage loan insurance programs, working with issuers of CMHC mortgage-backed securities, and aiding borrowers to apply for direct lending and pre-development funding.

Andrew works closely with developers, investors, and nonprofits. He also works with municipal and provincial housing entities to efficiently finance rentals, condos, and bare land.

I like working in commercial real estate because I’ve been obsessed with real estate, construction, and architecture since I was a kid growing up in Vancouver. I plan to use my lending background to help clients improve our cities by creating new housing stock while also preserving older affordable units.

My strengths include knowing the intricacies of the CMHC suite of products, including the processes, policies, the direct lending programs, and the new MLI Select offering.

I am looking forward to enhancing my knowledge of ESG and developing financial solutions for a new wave of innovative housing design, including micro suites, tiny homes, co-living, modular construction, and other efficient ways of creating new housing supply.

I am proud of being a board member for the Mortgage Investment Association of BC (MIABC) and the work we do hosting educational sessions, putting on networking events, and mentoring students.

I am motivated by being part of the solution to help clients navigate an array of lending and government programs to the end goal of bettering our communities.
